This is a series of four workshops on Tuesday afternoons in October where kids, ages 8 and up, will have an opportunity to learn how to carve little animals out of wood. We will start with learning some essential knife safety and carving techniques and make a new creature from wood each week. The kids can then bring home the animals they make and be inspired to continue carving with the skills they have learned. Parents are welcome to stay and observe to glean some carving safety tips for assisting their children when at home. No prior carving experience necessary. All tools and materials will be provided along with a kevlar safety glove.

Here is a workshop for kids to learn how to carve their own wooden spoons. This class is designed for kids 8 years old and up to learn some basic carving and safety while creating a unique spoon that they can take home and use. Using a variety of techniques and tools, children will discover the fun of “green woodworking”. By making our spoons from fresh harvested birch wood, we will learn about the ease of carving this green wood rather than dry seasoned wood.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child to observe and glean some knife safety and techniques that they can assist their child with when at home. No prior carving experience necessary. All tools and materials will be provided along with a kevlar safety glove.
