WHERE COMMUNITY AND CONSERVATION BLOOM

Growing A Legacy, Rooted in Community

Aster Garden Center began as the dream of Paul and Karen Oleson, who poured their passion into creating a little garden store where people could find inspiration and the plants they needed to bring beauty to their outdoor spaces. What started as their vision quickly became a beloved local destination, rooted in care, creativity, and community. Kaniksu Land Trust is honored to carry forward the Olesons’ legacy, excited not only to continue what they built but also to grow Aster into something more—a welcoming community space where conservation, education, and connection can thrive alongside the plants.

Aster Garden Center is more than a nursery. It’s a vision for the future of conservation and community. When Kaniksu Land Trust began exploring ways to strengthen our mission, we saw in Aster the chance to grow deeper roots in our community: a place where people can find plants that nurture pollinators and wildlife, learn how to reWild their own backyards, and connect with one another in a third-space centered on sustainability. This bold step was made possible thanks to the generosity of a handful of visionary donors, whose early support helped KLT bring Aster to life. Their investment ensures that Aster will not only flourish today, but will continue to grow KLT’s impact—caring for the lands and people of the Kaniksu Region—long into the future. And now, we invite you to be part of this new chapter, whether by shopping at Aster, volunteering your time, sharing your expertise, or making a gift toward this vision of organizational stability and vitality, you can help this mission-driven venture thrive for years to come.

We encourage you to check back on this page for the latest news and updates as Aster takes root. Mark your calendars—our grand re-opening will be April 14, 2026—and join us in celebrating the beginning of this new community hub for connection, conservation, and growth.

Would you like to dig in?

  • Volunteer your time at Aster. Love to water plants, pull weeds, or prune before winter? We’ll need many helping hands to keep Aster thriving.

  • Lend your talents. As we prepare for a small remodel, we’ll need carpenters, electricians, sheetrock specialists, heating specialists, and others with building expertise. Your talent can make a huge difference in helping us build our next home.

  • Make a gift. If you’d like to support this vision financially, your contribution will help secure Aster as a permanent hub where conservation and community meet.
