Keep it wild

A summer internship with Kaniksu Land Trust is an opportunity to be part of meaningful, place-based work that cares for both land and community. Interns are fully integrated into our team and gain hands-on experience supporting land conservation, stewardship, and monitoring across some of the most cherished landscapes in the Kaniksu Region. From working on public access properties to contributing to conservation partnerships, interns see firsthand how thoughtful, community-rooted conservation creates lasting impact for people and the natural world.

Equally important, our interns help bring that work to life for the community. Interns support outdoor education and connection programs like Trails & Tales, collaborate with partners such as the East Bonner County Library District and Idaho Conservation League, and play a key role in community events and fundraising efforts throughout the summer. They also engage with Aster Garden Center, our mission-aligned community enterprise, gaining insight into innovative nonprofit models that build long-term resilience. This internship is designed for curious, motivated individuals who want real responsibility, diverse experiences, and a deeper understanding of how conservation, connection, and community come together in practice.
