How To Not Get Lost - A Wayfinding Lesson Using Stories
During a field trip to Pine Street Woods, Education Director Bri Larson led a wayfinding lesson for 3rd graders from Washington Elementary:
How To Not Get Lost In The Woods by Creating A Wayfinding Story.
Students navigated to a set destination, observing their surroundings and weaving a story based on the physical features and landmarks they encountered along the way. An adult partner transcribed each story, resulting in a collection of narratives, poems, tales, and graphic depictions, each unique to the student’s interpretation. They then traded stories, challenging each other to find their way using another student's descriptive tale.
