THE JACHETTA PROJECT
A Legacy Worth Protecting
In the heart of the Priest River Valley lies a remarkable 320-acre family property that has remained intact since the late 1800s. For more than a century, this land has been carefully stewarded — its mature forests standing tall, its creek running clear, its wetlands sustaining wildlife season after season.
Today, that legacy is in quiet jeopardy.
The last remaining heir deeply wishes to see her family’s land permanently protected. She dreams of conserving its forest, creek, wetlands, and wildlife habitat for generations to come. But without support, she may have no choice but to subdivide and sell portions of the property to remain financially secure.
This is a pivotal moment.
Kaniksu Land Trust has the opportunity to purchase a conservation easement that would permanently protect these 320 acres — keeping the land intact while allowing the family to retain ownership and continue caring for it.
The Goal
Our original goal was $150,000 to help secure this conservation easement. Thanks to the generosity of early supporters, $65,000 has already been committed.
$85,000 remains to close the gap.
